Celebrating Excellence: Fibre Construction Honoured at Wakefield Civic Society Design Awards for Second Consecutive Year
We are thrilled to announce that Fibre Construction has once again been recognised for its commitment to high-quality architectural design and urban restoration.
COMMITMENT TO HIGH QUALITY ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN & URBAN RESTORATION
At the Wakefield Civic Society Design Awards ceremony held on April 23, 2026, at Wakefield Town Hall, our team was honoured with two separate commendations.
This marks the second year running that Fibre Construction has received accolades from the Civic Society. Last year, our team secured a design award for the extensive refurbishment of a dental practice in Wakefield. This continued success reinforces our progress as a leader in sympathetic restoration and imaginative design within the city.
Double Recognition for Bread Street
The annual awards, which have celebrated excellence in the city’s design since 1966, highlighted our transformative work on Bread Street, one of Wakefield’s oldest and most historic thoroughfares.
Residential Adaptation:
Fibre Construction received a commendation for converting an old commercial property on Bread Street into a unique single home. The Civic Society judges praised the project as an “imaginative adaptation for residential use”.
Best Shop Front:
Our company chief, Matt Focarelli, also received a commendation in the “Best Shop Front” category. This award recognises the careful restoration of traditional façades that celebrate the street’s heritage.
Contributing to Wakefield’s Regeneration
The Bread Street project was part of a wider improvement scheme that benefited from a shop front grant from Wakefield Council. Our work focused on restoring the fabric of these historic buildings to ensure they serve a modern purpose while retaining their original character.
Civic Society President Kevin Trickett noted that this year’s awards focused on “quality over quantity,” highlighting how developers like Fibre Construction are helping to enhance the city centre. By converting old commercial spaces into vibrant homes, we are proud to be part of the trend of people moving back into the heart of Wakefield, providing a boost to local businesses and the community.
